Beechworth Gorge, Victoria. 600x400mm Oil on Canvas
I have spend many a happy painting at the Beechworth Gorge The mineralized mountain waters of the High Plains cut through the narrow gorge making distinctive marks of orange on the of quartz and granite boulders.
Although is is often said the Australian bush show no seasonal change I have found the Gorgeto be a great source of seasonal variation. Sometimes in winterthe granit rocks are home to colonies of moss and lichen. These too have been the inspiration of an ongoing love affair with this gorge.
